Today’s Practice:

The pathway to being centered and present is to learn how to stop, breathe, and reflect. It sounds simple, but simple does not mean trivial. Once we practice this “presencing” technique with our children, we can then focus in on what it feels like to stop, breathe, and reflect. This provides us with the opportunity to teach them how to translate what they are experiencing into feeling words that go beyond: “fine, okay and good.”

By teaching our children how to focus within, and then to name what they are feeling, we are empowering them to manage life’s social and emotional challenges as a precursor to building healthy, happy, and resilient relationships with others.
