Maia Szalavitz is an award winning American reporter and author who focuses on science, public policy and addiction treatment. Bruce D. Perry is an American psychiatrist, clinician and researcher in children’s mental health and the neurosciences.  He is also the author of several books, including Born for Love: Why Empathy Is Essential-and Endangered, which he co-authored with Maia Szalavitz.
